UNIQUE SEED KEY FOR YOUR TREZOR DEVICE

When setting up your TREZOR hardware wallet for the first time, a seed key will be generated by your TREZOR device once. This seed key is unique for your TREZOR device and will serve as a back-up if you lose access to your TREZOR hardware wallet for any reason (e.g. if you don’t remember your pin code or if you lose or damage your device). From now on you can sleep peacefully at night, knowing that through your seed key you will always be able to regain access to your cryptocurrency, no matter what happens.

Nowadays, most websites and online services (email, cloud storage, social media, etc.) offer 2-factor authentication to their users as an additional security method when signing into an online account. The user is asked to enter a temporary numeric code, in addition to his or her password. An application frequently used in this regard is for example “Google Authenticator".

How does it work?

TREZOR is the most advanced U2F security method:

1. Unique signature for each individual online account: Unlike other U2F security applications, the TREZOR device always uses a unique signature for each registered online account.

2. Easy data back-up and recovery: When setting up the TREZOR device, you will receive a unique seed key. This unique seed key serves as a back-up, allowing you to recover all your data stored on the TREZOR device at any time (such as your U2F security tokens).

3. Unlimited number of U2F security tokens, all backed-up securely with one single unique seed key.

4. Protection against phishing: The TREZOR device always displays on the screen: (a) the URL of the relevant online account and (b) a description of the action for which the TREZOR device requests your permission. This allows you to know at all times what you are giving permission for.
